Summer continues

I will be in a couple of shows this fall:

I will have one or two pieces in the "RISD NYC Alumni Biennial" at The (OA) Can Factory in Brooklyn curated by Glenn Ligon and Lisa Sigal. It will open on September 7, 2008 and will run through the 28th.

I will have some work in "New York/ New England/ New Talent" at the Hampden Gallery at UMass Amherst. The show is partially curated by David Gibson (check out David's Article Projects to see what else he is working on) and will open in November.

Finally, I have added some images of paintings I have made since being in Providence, RI.

You can get to them by clicking on the image below.

Interim

During the summer between my first and second year fellowships at the Fine Arts Work Center I will be living and working in glamorous Providence, RI. Matt Bollinger and I will share a studio with our wonderful and talented friend Sean Salstrom. In August Matt and I are moving to Burlington, VT. We were both selected to be Artists in Residence at the Seven Below Arts Initiative, an affiliate of the Burlington City Arts community.screen%20shot.jpg

Click on the image to go to the site and check out the program.

We have heard wonderful feedback from a former resident (who happens to be a fellow former Fellow at the FAWC) and from critic (and jury member) Gregory Volk. The program is in its second year. I am very impressed with the artists it has brought in and the projects they have completed. I look forward to getting to know Vermont and to a new project I will be working on there, tentatively titled, "The Burlington Modern Period Room."

Of course, I should mention my recent participation at the Victorian Society of America Summer School led by reknown architectural historian Richard Guy Wilson. I spent about ten days in Newport, RI at the Salve Regina University touring historic homes and private residences of Victorian origin. I was overwhelmed with information - one day I think I took 1000 pictures. It was tough keeping up with my classmates! It will take a long time to process the experience and I am so glad to have been selected to participate. More to come on this topic!

A couple of my drawings are in a show in Hartford, CT until April 28, 2008. My image made the card, but they spelled my name wrong.

The show is organized by Paper/New England and features large works on paper by New England artists.

The Reception is April 9th at The Bushnell in Hartford.

Provincetown Arts Association and Museum Installation Shots

I finally went over to PAAM and took my installation shots today. They are in a new gallery on my Images page.

The Hans Hofmann Gallery is beautiful and the show looked wonderful and cohesive. The Association is housed in a fairly new "green" building- natural light and responsive indoor lighting, special vents, custom paint... It has been a pleasure to show there.

New Images!

I have added photos from my recent show (see poster on the last post) into a new gallery on the Images page.  Included are photos from the opening night, mostly taken by Matt Bollinger, who also did the lighting design and the wall text. The gallery also has installation shots Matt and I took later with a new light kit, which was a very thoughtful Christmas present. They are some of the best slides we have ever taken.

The show turned out great and I wanted to thank Matt, Maryalice, Fleming, Fiona, Craig, Welley and her friend Emma, and of course Cynch and "the Law" (especially for the light kit).

I have also added a couple of images to the FAWC image gallery. They were in the show and photographed after the opening. When I have more time I will attempt to make a page for the sound piece that was playing and another for the security video.

In other news, I am applying for many residencies and I am tired of resizing images and rewording statements.

Recent News

Well, several months later I have finally figured out how to put images onto this site! Please peruse them, if you feel so inclined.

As for news... if it is not clear at all on this ridiculous site, I have been living in Provincetown, MA since October 2007. I am more than halfway done with my fellowship at the Fine Arts Work Center. I will be getting more images up within the next few weeks from the time I have been here.

I am in a show up right now at the  Provincetown Arts Association and Museum until March 2nd and my solo show at the Hudson D. Walker Gallery will open on February 8th. I am also going to be in a works on paper show organized by Paper/NE at The Bushnell in Hartford, CT, in which you will be able to see "Mirror and Chair" and "The Skylight" (both in the "Drawings" section of the "Images" link). Please check these out if you can.
